Ocean Grove SLSC - New lifesaving facility
Surf Beach Road, Ocean Grove, 3226
In the 2015-16, 2017-18 and 2018-19 State Budgets, as well as via a Sport and Recreation Grant in 2010-11, the Victorian Government allocated $4.346 million for the construction of the new Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) facility.
Situated in the local government area of Greater Geelong, the Ocean Grove SLSC plays an important role in the safety of swimmers and beachgoers, and the new clubhouse will ensure lifesavers have the facilities they need to respond to incidents and keep people safe in the water.
The new fit-for-purpose facility, which was officially opened on 7 July 2019, reflects the commitment and dedication of club volunteers to the local community and will enable an expansion of local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.
The new clubhouse features a training room and storage facilities, disabled access, change rooms, bathroom amenities, a kitchen and catering areas. It also provides training and conference facilities for the Bellarine Peninsula, which is expected to experience increasing tourism and residential growth in the coming decades.
The Ocean Grove SLSC, in conjunction with the Barwon Coastal Committee of Management, undertook considerable consultation with affected parties and the local community, to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing local community, now and into the future.Latest news
