Portsea SLSC - New lifesaving facility
Back Beach Road, Portsea, 3944
In the 2016-17 and 2017-18 State Budgets, the Victorian Government allocated $2.16 million for the construction of the new Portsea Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) facility.
Situated in the local government area of Mornington Peninsula Shire, the Portsea SLSC plays an important role in the safety of swimmers and beachgoers, and the new clubhouse will ensure lifesavers have the facilities they need to respond to incidents and keep people safe in the water.
The new fit-for-purpose facility reflects the commitment and dedication of club volunteers to the local community and has enabled an expansion of local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.
The new clubhouse, which was officially opened on 20 April 2019, is a vital piece of community infrastructure, providing additional lifesaving and member services with increased access and amenities for community and school groups.
Portsea SLSC undertook considerable consultation with Parks Victoria and the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, as well as affected parties and the local community, to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing local community, now and into the future.Latest news
