Apollo Bay Marine Rescue - New engine replacement
Nelson Street, Apollo Bay, 3232
In the 2017-18 State Budget, the Victorian Government allocated $50,000 for engine upgrades for Apollo Bay Ocean Rescue.
Situated in the local government area of Colac Otway Shire, Apollo Bay Ocean Rescue plays an important role in the safety of water users in the local area, by responding to marine emergencies and raising community awareness about marine safety.
Apollo Bay Ocean Rescue will receive two new Honda engines (150h/p) for its existing Stabicraft vessel, which will be in use by early 2019.
The new engine upgrades will ensure the search-and-rescue vessel meets commercial standards, enabling the committed and dedicated volunteers to continue to service their local community and assist other emergency service agencies.
The Marine Search and Rescue office within Emergency Management Victoria, is in regular communication with the Apollo Bay Ocean Rescue to ensure volunteers are provided with the vessels and equipment they need to keep their local communities safe on the water.
