Coast Watch Ocean Grove - New engine replacement
21 Guthridge Street, Ocean Grove, 3226
In the 2017-18 State Budget, the Victorian Government allocated $50,000 for new engine upgrades for Coast Watch Ocean Grove's Rigid-hulled Inflatable Boat (RIB) search-and-rescue vessel.
Situated in the local government area of Greater Geelong, Coast Watch Ocean Grove plays an important role in the safety of water users in the local area, by responding to marine emergencies and raising community awareness about marine safety.
Coast Watch Ocean Grove received two new Yamaha engines (150h/p) for its RIB vessel, which are now in use.
The engine upgrades will ensure the search-and-rescue vessel meets commercial standards, enabling the committed and dedicated volunteers to continue to service their local community and assist other emergency service agencies.
The Marine Search and Rescue office within Emergency Management Victoria, is in regular communication with Coast Watch Ocean Grove to ensure volunteers are provided with the vessels and equipment they need to keep their local communities safe on the water.
