VICSES Essendon Unit - Refurbishment of unit

9 Rutherford Street, Aberfeldie, 3040

In the 2018-19 Budget, the Victoria State Government allocated $1.2 million for the expansion of the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) Essendon Unit located at 9 Rutherford Street, Aberfeldie.

The VICSES Essendon Unit, which comprises 46 active members, responded to more than 160 requests for assistance in 2018-19.

Situated in the local government area of Moonee Valley, the expanded site will enable the Essendon Unit to continue to respond effectively to the local community and assist Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and fire services throughout the state.

The expanded fit-for-purpose facility will reflect VICSES' commitment and dedication to the local community and enable an expansion of its local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.

In collaboration with the Emergency Services Infrastructure Authority, VICSES will undertake considerable consultation with the VICSES Essendon Unit, as well as the local council, affected parties and the local community (as required), to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing community, now and into the future.
