VICSES Knox Unit - Relocation of unit

609 Burwood Highway, Knoxfield, 3180

In the 2019-20 State Budget, the Victorian Government allocated funding for the relocation of the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) Knox Unit from Lewis Road, Wantirna South to 609 Burwood Highway, Knoxfield.

The VICSES Knox Unit responded to more than 450 requests for assistance in 2018-19 and is the busiest road, air, industrial and rail incidents (RAIR) unit in metropolitan Melbourne.

The new site will enable the VICSES Knox Unit to continue to respond effectively to the local community and assist Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and fire services throughout the state.

The new fit-for-purpose facility will reflect VICSES' commitment and dedication to the local community and enable an expansion of local services, while supporting the retention and recruitment of new volunteers.

In collaboration with the Emergency Services Infrastructure Authority, VICSES are undertaking considerable consultation with the VICSES Knox Unit, as well as the local council, affected parties and the local community (as required), to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of a growing community, now and into the future.
